Pains Wessex launch new Compact Distress Signals

Pains Wessex launch new Compact Distress Signals Pains Wessex have launched the new lightweight Compact Distress Signals pack. This contains three red aerial flare cartridges and an integral penjector with firing mechanism, all enclosed in a “tough, water-resistant case”. This is apparently the first distress signal which has been designed for use by individuals who are often the people who most need a safety device such as a marine distress signal, but currently don't carry them because of the size, shape and bulk of previous products. Each cartridge will project its payload to a height of more than 40 metres and will burn for more than five and a half seconds at a minimum of 10,000 candela. The cartridges will be visible for five miles in daylight, increasing to 10 miles at night, depending on weather conditions. Also available is the Personal Distress Signals pack which consists of nine red aerial flare cartridges and a separate penjector in a rugged, lightweight plastic case.
